Brief Description
In Katanga (Lubumbashi and Kasenga), Maï-ndombe, Kwilu and Kwango, 315 opinion leaders have pledged to fight early marriage and sexual violence. A network of traditional chiefs committed to this fight has been set up in Kasenga. Traditional leaders in Kinshasa have also been made aware of sexual violence and have pledged to fight against these acts that violate human dignity. A network of men committed to the fight against gender-based violence has been set up in Maniema. To mark Women's Month and International Day of the Girl Child, as well as the 16 Days of Activism campaign to combat violence against women, the government and its partners have been raising awareness among young girls about early marriage and publicising texts and laws favourable to women's rights.

The women and men campaign, moving forward together to address inequalities between men and women; the “breaking the silence” campaign, organized by the Office of the Personal Representative of the Head of State on sexual violence and the recruitment of children in times of conflict with the support of UN Women and UNFPA. This campaign has enabled women victims to come out of silence to benefit from care and to other members of the community to be made aware of sexual violence.
